Major Thinkers - "Avenue B."

Wexford, Ireland's Pierce Turner and Larry Kirwan were childhood friends who emigrated to New York City's Lower East Side in the early 80's. Their new environs inspired them to chant "Avenue B! It's the place to be!" over tribal beats - over and over again. Their Music merged their European roots with the urgency of inner city rhythms. They were signed to Epic/Portrait records and released an EP. "Avenue B." was a minor hit but they soon tired of New Wave and went their separate ways, Kirwan to Black 47 and Turner on to a solo career.

Wicklow Hills is the greatest New Wave song ever in the history of the century. The tears well up as I think about thinking about that song.
