Little Girls - "How To Pick Up Girls"

Los Angeles' Little Girls released a six song EP called "Thank Heaven" (PVC) in 1983. Their kewpie-doll vocals combined with power pop hooks were a hit with Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ scoring with the "Earthquake Song" and "How To Pick Up Girls". The Little Girls and their band were Caron Maso - guitar, vocals, Michele Maso - vocals, Kip Brown - guitar, vocals, Jon Gerlach - drums, Jeff Fair - Bass, and Steve Sicular - guitars. Caron and Michelle were joined by Kip for a reunion at the Santa Monica Playhouse in January 2004 for a St. Valentine's Day benefit.

I *did* own this record many years ago...and sold it, for reasons I still don't understand. I still have "Earthquake Song" on one of the Rodney on The ROQ comps, though.

I still have the Earthquake Song in heavy rotation (that would be the rotation of my hard drive) to this day.

Nobody told me about the reunion last year! I would have sent chocolates!!!

I was in South Africa, in any case.

After we put "The Earthquake Song" on the air, Former Blondie and sometime Runaways manager Toby Mamis started managing them and packaged them for the "How To Pick Up Girls" release.

Toby had enough of managing women and signed on with Shep Gordon and tour managed Alice Cooper for the next 20 years.

Thanks, Caron for teaching me the performance rights end of the music business!

I went to college in Los Angeles back in 1984-88 and saw The Little Girls many times. I still have their album.

Not New Wave but I saw The Pandoras many times as well.

After their reunion concert at Santa Monica Playhouse they recorded a new album of old songs and previously unreleased songs and one Everly Brothers' cover. It is scheduled for a Spring '08 release by RAMO records. Prior to that they are returning to Santa Monica Playhouse for a benefit concert on Saturday, February 16th. Ticket goes on sale soon.

More unknown and forgotten songs of the eigthies, which are real "pearls" and should be listened to:

BOND: "My silent friend" - very impressing song

MARTY WILSON-PIPER: "I can't Cry"

THE FLAMING MUSSOLINIS."Swallow Glass"

THE EXPRESSION (Australian Band): "With Eyes Closed" (a little hit then) and many other songs, as good as With Eyes Closed
